Description
Delicious potato and cheese balls with a crispy exterior and a creamy center, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g de pommes de terre (starchy potatoes)
- 100 g de fromage râpé (cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 œuf
- 50 g de farine
- Sel et poivre au goût
- Huile pour la friture (neutral oil like canola)
Instructions
- Cook the potatoes in a pot of boiling water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, drain and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add the grated cheese, egg, flour, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix well with a spatula or your hands until a cohesive dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
- Form small balls the size of a walnut with your slightly wet hands. Place them on a plate and let rest for a few minutes.
- Heat a good amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Test the temperature by gently placing a small ball in the oil; if it rises and sizzles, it’s ready.
- Fry the balls for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain stable heat.
- Drain the fried balls on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot, inviting loved ones to a delightful tasting experience.
Notes
For quicker preparation, make these in advance and store in the fridge for 1-2 days. They can be reheated in a pan for crispiness or baked at 200°C for a lighter option.
